Tasting notes on Chateau d'Yquem - Sauternes Barsac

> 2002 Yquem - Sauternes Barsac, Bordeaux, France

2002 Yquem
Pale yellow hue. Multiple layers citrus, bitter oranges, lime, vanilla and almonds aromas.
2002 Château d'Yquem has a round body and loads of intense flavours. Glycerol-coated mouth with a wide fruity smoothness. Intense mid palate followed by a subtle acid note which supports the initial citrus fruit down to the finish. All the wine elements are harmoniously integrated. Although long and elegant, the finish of 2002 Yquem is more delicate than powerful with fruit jelly or marzipan flavours. Of course 2002 Yquem doesn't have a phenomenal structure, but it's awesome to drink as of today. It's going to be difficult to keep one hands off the remaining bottles! To my opinion, from a qualitative point of view, 2002 Château d'Yquem ranges between the 1999 Yquem and 1996 Yquem. 90/100.
