Pichon Comtesse de Lalande - Pauillac
The 1855 Classification of the Wines of the Medoc
Region
Pichon Comtesse de Lalande - Second Classified Growths, 2e Crus Classes, GCC,

1966 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac,
Bordeaux, France
1966 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande: bright orange-ruby colour. Spicy
nose with game animal tones and
ripe fruit.
This 1966 Pichon Lalande still has some tannins and ends smoothly for 5 - 10 seconds. A nice example of a maturing
Pauillac. 87/100

1992 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac,
Bordeaux, France
The colour of this 1992 Pichon Lalande is no more to be compared to a young wine, more the colour of a
ripe strawberry. The
nose is beautiful, feminine (plum, blackcurrant, basilic). In mouth, the wine is
round and nice, but cannot be mistaken with "serious" vintages. 1992 was a rather poor
year and it shows. The Pichon Lalande Comtesse 92 has hardly no
tannins, but it's a nice wine to drink now and for the next 3 - 5 years.
85/100

1994 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac,
Bordeaux, France
1994 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande: blackcurrant
nose. Rather diluted, the mouth of 1994 Pichon
Comtesse de Lalande is dominated by wood and
green tannins. One of the less appealing
Pichon Comtesse I had for ages. I doubt that it can improve much. 80/100

2002 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac,
Bordeaux, France
2002 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande: smooth
fruity
nose of
fresh black currant syrup, a bit
oaky, banana, chocolate and
light green pepper. The
body of 2002 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande seems relatively
austere with
elegant and slightly mentholated tannins.
Freshness and silky fruit. As often with Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, elegance and aristocracy are subtly combined to produce a very beautiful wine that should improve wonderfully in a decade. 91/100

2003 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac,
Bordeaux, France
2003 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande:
deep purple hue. Very big,
sturdy
nose with notes of
vanilla and smoked
cedar wood with delicious nuances of
creamy red fruit and fig. 2003 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has a tight
body
with mouth-coating tannins. A slightly over-matured raspberry
taste
comes out on the
midpalate. 2003 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is well
balanced and persistent. Great power and finesse rolled into one. A very promising Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande which will need a lot of patience to come out. 91/100

2004 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac,
Bordeaux, France
06/2007 - Fairly reserved although clearly elegant. Somewhat
austere and mineral. Lots of class on the palate, with considerable
freshness (however, one wonders if the estate may not have picked a
tad too early) and a fine, well-defined texture. Curiously, the wine
is much more forward than older vintages at the same age.
Well-balanced and clearly marked by Petit Verdot. This wine is well
worth several more years of cellaring to achieve its full potential. |
