Tasting notes on Chateau La Lagune - Haut-Medoc

The 1855 Classification of the wines of the Medoc Region
la Lagune - Third Classified Growths, 3e Grands Crus Classes, GCC

> 1982 La Lagune - Haut-Médoc , Bordeaux, France

Opened two hours, not decanted. Deep ruby aspect, slightly orange on the rim. Empyreumatic barn smell which, fortunately, dissipates after a few minutes in the glass. Beautiful set of aromatic flavours: leather, liquorice, tobacco (Havana cigar). In the course of the dinner, the nose reveals even more complex nuances of ripe fruits and dried leafs. The attack in mouth is dynamic, revealing a dense texture with still perceptible tannins. Balanced and long finish. Although slightly less impressive than the bottle opened in May 2006 in Paris, 1982 La Lagune expresses all the potential of successful wines in 1982. Chateau la Lagune is at maturity, but will probably stay a few more years at this level. 92/100.

> 2001 La Lagune - Haut-Médoc , Bordeaux, France

2007 April - This leads off with appealing bittersweet cherry and soft spices on the nose. Well built wine with ripe fruit and velvety tannins. However 2001 La Lagune's midpalate lacks of intensity and the finish falls a bit short. It’s a shame because the aromas and the initial mouth are beautiful!
