Tasting notes on Clos Puy
Arnaud - Cotes de Castillon |
2000 Clos Puy Arnaud - Cotes de
Castillon,
Bordeaux, France
11/2006 -
2000 Clos Puy Arnaud (Cotes de Castillon)
Deep ruby hue. The aromas are quite recognizable - my wife, who did
not know what I was serving immediately said: "That's Clos Puy
Arnaud!". Concentrated red fruit, black cherries, roasted bread and
soft spices.
Velvety, round and juicy mouth. Beautiful mineral tension on the
midpalate. A slight bitterness and an average length on the finish
makes me think that 2000 Clos Puy Arnaud is notch below the 2001,
2002 and the remarkable 2003. 88/100. |

2002 Clos Puy Arnaud - Cotes de
Castillon,
Bordeaux, France
06/2005 -
2002
Clos Puy Arnaud : beautiful
deep ruby color. Very expressive
ripe raspberry, prune,
currants,
soft spices and a hint of
smoke. The
palate is
round and
is characterized by a nice and juicy fruit. Tannins are marked but
still smooth.
Delicate freshness. Very consistent medium
palate and
finish underlining a quite surprising
ripe fruit - tasted blind I
thought of a 2003!
2002 Clos Puy Arnaud is truly a wine of pleasure and class. Moreover
it appears to be a remarkable Price to Quality deal (approx. 20
US$). 89/100 |

2003 Clos Puy Arnaud - Cotes de
Castillon,
Bordeaux, France
08/2007 -
2003 Clos Puy Arnaud:
Deep crimson hue. Overflow of splendid red fruit (currant,
raspberry) and of very ripe blackcurrant fragrances, almost jammy.
Delicate floral flavours. The attack is perfectly gauged, well
balanced on a very expressive fruit and a delicate texture. Good
freshness supporting the juicy fruit down to the finish.
Beautiful length. Life would be great if all the 2003 were similar
to 2003 Clos Puy Arnaud. 92/100 |

2004 Clos Puy Arnaud - Cotes de
Castillon,
Bordeaux, France
07/2007 - Beautiful bouquet of very fresh red fruit and nutmeg. Pure
fruit on the palate from the very beginning. Concentrated and tasty
with elegant, velvety tannin. A beautiful long aftertaste with an
interesting mineral quality on the tail end. In my opinion, 2004
Clos Puy Arnaud is close in quality to the excellent 2001.
