Characteristics
about Pauillac appellation
Its own Appellation Pauillac Contrôlée is one of the most prestigious in all the Bordelais. In
1855, 18 crus classés were clasified within its borders, including the famous two 1st Classified Growths -
Lafite Rothschild and
Latour.
Mouton Rothschild joined the duo in 1973 after Edmond de Rothschild finally optained an exceptionnal and partial revision of the historical classification. With 18 classified properties and 16 Crus Bourgeois, Pauillac counts among Bordeaux’ most prestigious wine producing regions. It is right to say that the
Cabernet
Sauvignon is at its most majestic in Pauillac. This full-blown, sometimes opulent
fruity,
powerful and complex character, is always beautifully
balanced
by an incomparable
tannic
structure. The Pauillac's wine's ageing potential is generally between 10 and 20 years and potentially longer for the best growths.
