Médoc
Situation and soil
about Medoc area
Wide district, stretching approximately from the Gironde estuary to the city of Bordeaux. The northernmost segment of the
Medoc area carries the same name as the Médoc peninsula itself and represents almost one third of its surface. Sheltering over 1500 properties called "Château", the
Medoc vineyard's surface covers a vast area of 3400 ha. The style of Médoc wines harmonizes perfectly with the
Cabernet
Sauvignon, which adds some of its precious virtues to the wines: color,
body,
alcoholic
structure and suppleness. Médoc is a source of inexpensive, if good-value, basic Bordeaux.
