Listrac-Médoc
Situation and soil
about Listrac Medoc area
Listrac-Médoc was formerly simply named Listrac and gained its new appellation in 1986.
Listrac Medoc is located on the busy N215 road leading to the ocean, the Appellation Listrac-Médoc Contrôlée bounds the viticultural portion of the Medoc peninsula to the west.
Listrac Medoc is located on a calcareous plate, its gravelly soil is often compared to the one of
Moulis and one may recognize many similarities between them. Thanks to an excellent natural drainage and to the relative
freshness coming from the nearby pine forest, the Listrac Medoc's vine's grapes mature slowly and regularly within this area.

Characteristics
about Listrac Medoc appellation
While full bodied, virile and
powerful in their youth, the
Listrac Medoc's wines definitely become more velvety and
fleshy after 5-10 years of patience. An important local winegrowers’ cooperative unit assembles approximately 1/3 of the
Listrac Medoc local production. One can also find many interesting independent growers who produce excellent wines at moderate
prices.
